IF "Old Fashioned"

Hello! Hope you had a good weekend. Mine was great just too fast. Well, today I wanted to share my illo for IF's topic  Old-Fashioned I thought about over the weekend. Fashion came to mind, then the 1950's and then... I Love Lucy.  Lucille Ball is one of my favorite comedians I still watch I Love Lucy whenever I can. It's always been a special show I watched with my grandmother who doesn't speak English and yet understood every part always cracking up with me.  At times I wished I lived in those  Rock and Roll days. This illo was inspired from those times and the full flared princess cut  dresses - of course I preferred to add the poodle in the scene and not on the skirt :)

Oh and I wanted to share with you my original sketch before color was added. I usually sketch in red pencil and finesse my line work using an HB or 2B pencil - I like the soft tones of a pencil.

    She is so sweet and I love that dog! Women looked so stylish in the 50's, always in dresses. I guess in the 60's people began "letting their hair down", it was okay to relax, wear jeans and be a shlump.

    Gorgeous! Oh, I love 50s fashion as well! You know, I kind of curse Britney Spears for bringing in all the low cut jeans which, of course, spurred on the perennial fear of muffin tops. Hahaha, I sound like a grumpy old granny. Anyway, back to your illo. I love how everything is pale except for the spots of color. Fantastic!
